Hi,
Welcome to the latest issue of Saab-i.
Once again, Saab has managed a first in safety—this time for the Saab 9-3 Sport Sedan, as the only car to receive a “Double Best Pick” designation from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. This comes on the heels of receiving EuroNCAP’s best possible 5 star rating for the 9-3 Sport Sedan, Saab 9-5 and Saab 9-3 Convertible. And recognition for the Saab 9-5 as being the safest car in Sweden by the insurance company Folksam. Talk about a safety record that speaks for itself!
After we’ve introduced you to the three popular new metallic colours added to our range, winter takes over as the theme for the rest of this issue. We describe all the ways your Authorized Saab Repair Shop can help you prepare for winter’s worst. We have a suggestion for managing the whole family’s ski equipment so you can spend more time on the slopes—and less time figuring out how to get it there. And finally, we give you a head start on the gift-giving season by featuring a few accessories that are sure to delight any true Saab fan. Enjoy!
Sincerely,
Knut Simonsson Executive Director, Global Marketing Saab Automobile AB |

First the Saab 9-3 Sport Sedan earns five stars from EuroNCAP, Europe’s leading crash-test agency. Now it’s the first passenger car to be recognized with a “Double Best Pick” designation from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Even better, the recognition comes on a car equipped with the standard safety features found in all Saab 9-3 Sport Sedans. |

The Institute rates vehicles on how well they protect occupants in front and side crashes. The best performers in each test are designated "Best Picks," while vehicles that earn "Best Pick" in both tests are designated "Double Best Picks." The 2004 Saab 9-3 Sport Sedan was the only mid-size car to earn “Best Pick” in the side-impact portion of the testing.
These recent accolades are a direct result of the Saab “Real-Life Safety” philosophy. Saab engineers’ study of real crashes has led to a number of standard safety features that not only impress testers, but also reduce the risk of injury in real life situations. As further affirmation of Saab’s safety achievements, the 2003 Saab 9-3 Sport Sedan, 2003 Saab 9-5 and 2004 9-3 Convertible have also been awarded five stars by EuroNCAP.

It may not be at the top of the list when it comes to buying a new car. But it’s not too far down either. We’re talking about colour, of course. Somehow, the exact right colour creates a strong bond and sense of ownership—and can make the difference between liking a new car and loving it.
|
|
With that in mind, Saab has added three popular new metallic colours to its existing range of choices: Parchment Silver, Smoke Beige and Chilli Red. The new colours are available on all 2005 models onwards, with the exception of Smoke Beige for the 9-3 Convertible. If you’d like to see how each colour looks on an actual Saab, click this link to the 9-3 Sport Sedan page.

For skiers, every moment spent struggling to load and unload equipment is a moment they don’t get to spend on the hill. That’s what makes the Saab extending ski/snowboard holder such a smart winter accessory. The holder can manage the whole family’s equipment safely and securely (up to six pairs of skis or four snowboards), and is simple to use. Rails slide out from the roof for easy loading and unloading, and lockable spring-loaded arms keep equipment secured. The extending holder is available for the 9-3 Sport Sedan, 9-5 Sedan, 9-5 Wagon and our earlier models 9-3 Coupe and 9-3 Five-Door. For more information, visit your nearest dealer.

We may not be able to predict winter’s arrival exactly. But we do know it will arrive. With it will come greater challenges for drivers, and much harsher conditions for their cars. Yet some drivers still wait until winter surprises them before preparing their cars for worsening weather and roads.
