The report is published every two years and its findings are based on an assessment of personal injuries in accidents on Swedish roads involving 138 different car models. Folksam analyzed 94,100 car-to-car road accidents in Sweden since 1994 which involved injuries to 35,400 occupants. An injury risk measurement is produced for each car model for which sufficient data is available. |

Not only did they receive the overall award, but also both the Saab 9-5 and 9-3 Hatchback won their own categories, for large and medium-sized cars. This win is a repeat performance for the Saab 9-5, which won the ‘Safest Car’ Award in the last report two years ago. It also follows Saab’s success in the IIHS and HLDI safety reports last year, and the awarding of the maximum Five Stars for the Saab 9-5, 9-3 Sport Sedan and 9-3 Convertible in the 2004 EuroNCAP car safety tests.
Both the 9-5 and 9-3 Hatchback models have been developed according to Saab's real-life safety philosophy, which involves computer simulations and crash testing designed to replicate what happens in real collisions on real roads. These are derived from reports in a Saab database now covering more than 6,100 real-life accidents involving Saab cars on Swedish roads.
"This latest Folksam report is further independent confirmation of the effectiveness of our long-term work with car safety," says Per Lenhoff, Head of Crash Safety Development at Saab Automobile. "The current Saab 9-3 Sport Sedan model is not yet included because there is insufficient data available, but we also expect it to perform extremely well in future studies."

Nothing beats listening to your favorite tunes when you’re out on the open road, and our multimedia upgrades for your Saab 9-3 Convertible, SportCombi or Sport Sedan certainly bring the music alive.
The Saab six-disc CD changer fits effortlessly into the rear luggage compartment, and can be operated via the steering wheel or the existing stereo controls. It features anti-theft protection and is digitally coded to work in your car only.
Our handy Auxiliary connector allows you to listen to music on your MP3 player, minidisk or laptop through your car’s audio system. It is designed to fit into the centre console storage compartment.
You can give your existing sound system a boost with a choice of two upgrades: the Sound System upgrade kit (SS2) converts your Premium 70 (SS1) System to a Premium 150 System. The additional amplifier increases the total output from 70 W to 150 W, while the center front speaker and two front door midrange/bass speakers will deliver a more natural spread of sound and a better bass profile.
The Sound System upgrade kit (SS3) takes things to another level. It provides an output boost to 300 W and a full surround sound effect, thanks to the four additional tweeters - two in the front and two in the parcel shelf, as well as two subwoofers for a rich, warm bass sound.
