Hi

Welcome to Saab-i.

2006 was a record-breaking year for Saab, with a sales increase of 5.4% on 2005. And at next week’s Geneva Motor Show the world will get its first glimpse of our latest exciting products for 2007 and the future. We’ll be unveiling both a Saab BioPower engine for the 9-3 range, and an exciting new E100 BioPower engine concept, which promises a level of performance never before seen in an ethanol-driven road car.

The launch of the 9-3 BioPower* will mean that Saab BioPower will shortly be available across the entire Saab range, enabling even more Saab drivers to help reduce fossil fuel emissions through responsible fuel consumption while benefiting from increased performance and a more sporty drive.

You’ll also find an interview with Saab’s Managing Director, Jan-Åke Jonsson, as well as details of some of Saab’s greatest innovations.

Best regards,

Knut Simonsson,
Executive Director, Global Brand and Sales Operations
Saab Automobile AB

*Launch dates vary from market to market. BioPower not currently available in all markets.

Following the huge sales success of the Saab 9-5 BioPower range, we’re very excited to announce the launch of a new BioPower engine for the Saab 9-3 range.

This innovative technology will have its world premiere at next week’s Geneva Motor Show, and it means that BioPower will now be available across the entire Saab range – great news for drivers – even better news for the environment! The launch of these models reinforces Saab’s leadership of Europe’s emerging flex-fuel segment, and Saab will now offer “eco-friendly” variants of all our core products. We can expect a lively buzz around the Saab stand at next week’s Geneva Motor Show, with the unveiling of our latest BioPower concept — the BioPower 100 Concept. We’ll be showcasing something never seen before in a road car: the first ever production-based turbo engine optimized for 100% bioethanol — an engine that produces a substantial increase in power and torque whilst minimising fossil-fuel emissions.

The concept will be presented in the shape of a 9-5 SportCombi, and demonstrates the great performance potential of bioethanol. The exceptionally high specific power output opens the door for future “rightsizing” - using smaller, high output engines that also deliver energy savings.

For those of you who remember our 50th Anniversary back in 1997, you’ll know that we like to celebrate in style. And we hope to surpass that success this summer by inviting you to the 60th Anniversary Saab Festival. We’ll kick off the celebrations on Thursday the 7th June, and over the four days there promises to be a whole host of fun and memorable moments for the whole family.
You’ll be able to enjoy a delicious banquet, tour the Saab Museum, attend seminars and even participate in our track day at the Kinnekulle Ring, where you can race your Saab against those of a similar class. The SDCC will be back with a huge sale of spare parts for Saabs both new and old, all building up towards the Grand Finale on Sunday 10th June.

This month we’ve got some very interesting additions to the Saab Expressions range. The Saab USB memory stick is the ideal tool to move your work, photos and other important documents between computers. It has a durable rubber coating and the unique design is reminiscent of a 1960 Saab 96.
Funk-is is a unique, innovative ice scraper made of frosted plexiglass. Its asymmetrical shape enables you to reach into tight places, and the rounded corners protect the rubber seals on the windows. The edges of the ice scraper are diamond-ground, making it extra easier to scrape away ice and snow. Funk-is also has a built-in wiper blade cleaner, and comes with a comfortable sheepskin handle.

For people on the go, the Saab Everywhere Bike combines fashion and function, bringing smart transportation to both bike enthusiasts and urban commuters. Saab Everywhere Bike folds very easily, so it’s convenient to carry on buses and trains or in the car.

The frame has been stripped down to its essential elements, creating a lightweight, sleek and convertible vehicle. By replacing the conventional down-tube of the bike’s frame with a detachable wire, it also functions as an integrated locking mechanism. If the lock is broken so is the bike – so why should anyone steal it?

Personal Settings
Did you know that you can fine-tune many of the settings in your Saab to suit your personal preferences? Once you’ve driven a new car for a while you tend to discover a few things that you would like to adjust. With our customisation service you can tailor many of the programmable settings such as comfort and security levels and other practical features.

For instance, the new Saab 9-3 can be set to automatically re-circulate air inside the cabin while the windscreen wash is in operation, preventing the smell of washer fluid from entering the cabin, and you can program the headlights to switch on at your command, as you approach and walk away from the car. This gives you added security at night.

Saab 9-5 owners can adjust a whole host of settings. You can tailor the levels of the Night Panel mode, alter the speedometer/odometer for accurate readings when fitting different sizes of wheels, and choose from a wide range of locking configurations to increase the security of your car.

This service only takes a few minutes and it also gives you the opportunity to ask any questions you might have about the car. The range of settings depends on the model and year of your Saab, so to find out exactly which features can be personalised, simply contact your nearest Saab dealer.*

*Please note that this service is offered in most countries but not yet in all markets.
